“Carmen” premiere at Open Air Opera

The premiere performance of the opera “Carmen” as part of the spectacular music event “Open Air Opera” will be held on September 4, 2021, starting at 8 p.m. under the starry glow of the Belgrade sky on the most beautiful city esplanade – Sava Promenada.

The “Open Air Opera” is being held for the third time and represents a significant cultural ceremony, as well as a unique tourist attraction. This September, the citizens of Belgrade and guests of the capital will be able to enjoy the incredible atmosphere of the performance of the famous opera by Georges Bizet, and our best opera singers who represent Serbia in the most famous operas in the world will be in the title roles. The roles are interpreted by mezzo-soprano Sanja Anastasia as Carmen, tenor Zoran Todorović as Don Jose and David Bižić as Escamilo. The conductor is Dejan Savić, and the director Enrico Stinchelli is coming to Serbia especially to direct this unique event.

The National Theatre in Belgrade, in co-production with the Belgrade Waterfront and the main organizer “Human District”, continues the tradition that began in September 2018, when the “Open Air Opera” was held for the first time as part of the 150th anniversary of the National Theater. On that occasion, the entire musical ensemble of the National Theatre performed parts of the most famous operas in front of more than 6,000 spectators. It was also the first big outdoor performance of the musical ensemble of the National Theatre.

Entrance, as every year, will be free for all visitors.
