European Heritage Days – Visit the building of the Belgrade Cooperative

As part of the “European Heritage Days”, whose theme this year is “Cultural Heritage for All”, a historical tour of the building of the former Belgrade Cooperative in Karađorđeva Street, will be organized. This building today is the headquarters of the Belgrade Waterfront company and is one of the most beautiful buildings in Belgrade being a symbol of development – a place where the glorious past and future of the capital meet.

The building, built in 1907, during its long history was the seat of various institutions – from the “Belgrade Cooperative for Mutual Assistance and Savings”, through “Geozavod”, to today’s headquarters of the Belgrade Waterfront. The architects of this building are Andra Stevanović and Nikola Nestorović, while the construction was financed by the great philanthrope Luka Ćelović Trebinjac, who already knew that Savamala would become the most attractive city location in the future.

Organized tours of the building at 48 Karadjordjeva Street will be organized every Tuesday during the “European Heritage Days” (September 21 and 28, October 5 and 12) starting at 11 am. During the guided tour, visitors will get information about the history of one of the most beautiful buildings in Belgrade, but also about the exciting development of Savamala. Registrations are made at [email protected], the number of visitors is limited, and tours will be organized in compliance with all epidemiological measures.
