Verdi’s “Rigoletto” at Open Air Opera

Verdi’s “Rigoletto” at Open Air Opera

The Serbian National Opera will perform Verdi’s “Rigoletto” within Open Air Opera on September 10th at 8 PM. A spectacular open-air musical-scenic event awaits the audience in Belgrade Waterfront on the plateau behind Geozavod, and the entrance is free.

This year’s spectacle will be special because the famous baritone Željko Lučić will play the role of Rigoletto, the madman of the court. Lučić is one of the most respected Serbian baritones, also called “Verdian” because it was the roles in Verdi’s operas that made him famous. He performed on stages all over the world, among which four of the most prestigious opera houses stand out – New York’s Metropolitan Opera, Milan’s La Scala, Vienna State Opera and the Royal Opera House in London. However, his performances in Serbia are extremely rare.

The unique open-air music and stage event called “Open Air Opera“, which is being held for the fourth time, this summer will have a rich cultural and artistic program with the most successful domestic performers, while the special guest, thanks to the support of the Italian Cultural Centre, will be Alida Berti, who will play the role of Gilda, Rigoletto’s daughter, especially for this occasion.

The Open Air Opera spectacle, which this year is jointly organized by Belgrade Waterfront, “Human District” and the Opera of the Serbian National Theater, has become a major tourist attraction over time, representing an important cultural event for Belgrade and Serbia as well as for the entire region.
